A relative newcomer to the world of jewellery, tanzanite acquired its name from the country it is mined in – Tanzania. Known for breath-taking purplish-blue hues and incredible sparkle, tanzanite is also rare as there is only one particular area of Tanzania where it is found. With supplies dwindling, it is thought by experts that these mines will be exhausted before too long. As a result, tanzanites are considered to be both a pristine collectors’ item and a sound investment.
