Aquamarine Jewellery

Another member of the beryl family, aquamarine gets its name from its beautiful, water (or “aqua”!) like colour and its almost crystal-clear clarity. Primarily mined in Brazil, the most sought-after and valuable of these gemstones are described as ‘Santa Maria’ colour – an incredibly vivid, deep aqua-blue colour that is truly something special. Sadly, the mine where the Santa Maria originated has now been exhausted but gems of this colour are still found on occasion in Africa and are named after the original mine, in its honour.
